Sorrentino with the cast of "It was the hand of God"

20 December 2021 First step towards the Oscar for best international film tomorrow, when the short list of 15 candidates will be unveiled. Italy hopes with "E 'è stato la mano di Dio", by Paolo Sorrentino, in search of an encore after "The great beauty".
Among the possible "semi-finalists", the Japanese "Drive My Car" by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, the Iranian "A hero" by Asghar Farhadi, the Norwegian "The worst person in the world" by Joachim Trier, the French "Titane" by Julia Ducournau , and the Spanish "The Perfect Boss", directed by Fernando León de Aranoa.
Voting for the Oscar nominations will begin on Thursday, January 27, 2022, and end on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The official nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday 8 February, with the ceremony taking place on Sunday 27 March.
