Latifa bint Mohammed: Supporting the film and animation industry is among the top priorities of Dubai Culture

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), member of the Dubai Council, met with a number of filmmakers and animation designers in the UAE, and other creative cadres in the gaming sector, in a session held at the Center’s pavilion. Young people at Expo 2020 Dubai, as part of a series of councils and meetings through which Her Highness is keen to communicate with the components of the cultural and creative sector in Dubai, including institutions and individuals, in confirmation of the authority’s permanent approach to strengthening bridges of positive interaction with the creative community.

The session was attended by the Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Hala Badri, the Executive Director of the Department of the Authority's President, Nouf Tahlak, the Executive Director of the Arts and Letters Sector, Dr. Saeed Mubarak Kharbash, and a large group of creative cadres.

The participants reviewed their experiences and activities within the framework of the creative system in Dubai.

They discussed the requirements necessary for the sector to continue to grow and prosper.

Her Highness expressed her appreciation for the frankness, openness and spirit of cooperation that she witnessed during the meeting, especially since many of the points that were touched upon are the focus of the efforts of Dubai Culture.

Her Highness said: “I was pleased to meet a group of creative local cadres, and we are very keen to listen to their opinions stemming from a true passion for their creativity and experiences.

We are also keen to stand on the challenges they may face, to consider the most effective ways to neutralize and overcome them.”

Her Highness added: "These meetings help us monitor the needs and trends of the creative sector, and served as an important reference on which we relied in formulating our strategy and plans over the past few years. They also constitute a source of support for us in formulating our future plans for the creative sector."

Her Highness also stressed that "the film and animation industry is one of the important creative fields that come among the priorities of the work agenda of (Dubai Culture), and we look forward to cooperating with those concerned with the sector, to draw an ideal road map that contributes to achieving its growth and prosperity."

Her Highness said: "Through the meeting, we sought to identify the most prominent priorities of the actors, and we will continue to host more meetings to form a comprehensive vision of work priorities within a realistic and effective strategic plan for the next stage, aimed at achieving tangible achievements that support the future of this industry."

The attendees noted the prominent position that Dubai enjoys, in light of its openness and conscious vision that exalts creativity and innovators, and its advanced infrastructure that supports creative production processes in their diversity.

They also noted Dubai's position as one of the most desirable cities in the world to live and work.

The participants in the session touched on a number of points, which they saw as needing further support and development.

The session concluded with a set of recommendations that will be taken into account during the formulation of the future strategy of "Dubai Culture" for this sector.

It is noteworthy that the meeting of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum with a group of creators of the film and animation sector comes as an extension of multiple meetings and councils, which Her Highness has been keen to hold over the past few years with those concerned with the cultural and creative sector in Dubai, and the most prominent influencers in his career, whether From institutions or individuals, within a lively and fruitful dialogue aimed at achieving sustainable development for cultural and creative work in Dubai and the whole of the UAE.
