Kuwait..a warning against transferring the Egyptian consulate to Musharraf

Kuwaiti MP Abdullah Jassem Al-Mudhaf considered the statement of the new Egyptian ambassador to Kuwait, Osama Shaltout, about moving his country's consulate to the Musharraf region as a transfer of the problem from one place to another and not a solution to it.

Al-Mudhaf said: "In March 2019, the people of Al-Salam district appealed to the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to move the Egyptian consulate from Al-Rawda area to their area without responding to these appeals. Employment and singles are in the midst of families’ residence, which has caused unprecedented traffic congestion and fear of any security chaos.”

Al-Mudhaf affirmed appreciation to all communities, "however, the presence of this consulate or other high-density consulates will cause the same problems."

He added that he is primarily concerned with the people of Kuwait and their comfort in their residential areas, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should not allow high-density consulates to be located except in non-residential areas, within the limits of diplomatic norms and international agreements.

Al-Mudhaf called for the need to take into account the opinion and desire of the residents of the residential area, before moving any embassy or service institution to it, by following up on public opinion or what the Mukhtariya observes in the area, warning against continuing with this decision.
