[Global News] AFP just reported that the official results of the Chilean election agency showed that Gabriel Boric, the candidate of the left-wing political party alliance "in favor of dignity", was elected as the new president of Chile on the 19th local time.

According to the report, out of more than 99% of the votes that have been counted, the 35-year-old Boric is ahead of his opponent, the right-wing party alliance "Christian Social Front" candidate Jose Antonio Cass, with 55.86% of the votes. Especially, the latter's vote rate was 44%.

The president of Chile has a 4-year term and cannot be re-elected.

In the first round of voting in the presidential election held on November 21, no candidate received more than 50% of the required votes. Castor, who received the highest number of votes, and Boric, who followed closely, entered the second round of competition.

In this round of voting, the two candidates who get more votes win, and the president-elect will take office on March 11 next year.
