After three weeks of trial, the verdict fell, in the case of the fatal burglary of Servian: Daniel Malgouyres was sentenced this Friday evening to a sentence of 18 years in prison, before the Assises of Hérault.

The attorney general had requested 30 years' imprisonment against him on Wednesday.

The man, owner of the Jardin de Saint-Adrien, sacred favorite garden of the French in 2013, was found guilty of having organized his own burglary and of having killed one of the criminals, on October 5, 2017, against the backdrop of tumultuous divorce from his wife.

After reading the verdict, after more than 11 hours of deliberation, Daniel Malgouyres, 72, repeated, as since the start of the trial, that he was innocent.

Seven years in prison for the second burglar

That evening, two men broke into the couple's home.

One of the two had been shot by Daniel Malgouyres.

The other had fled, before being quickly found after the discovery of a hood carrying his DNA.

He had explained to investigators to have been paid by the owner to carry out this burglary, in order to scare his wife, weakened by a serious accident a few months earlier.

But also in order to recover 100,000 euros hidden in a safe, of which only she knew the code.

Richard Bruno, the second burglar, who fled on October 5, 2017, was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Finally, a third man, Richard Llop, who appeared for having participated in the organization of this home-jacking, by recruiting the two criminals, was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Friday.
