December 17, 2021A painful, dramatic departure: leaving one's land, one's home, in search of a better future, a hope for oneself and for one's children. A scenario in which your pet does not represent just an affection, but a bond with the roots. So for the Maaloul family, who arrived in Lampedusa last March 13, Rambo, a four-year-old cat, was all this. They took him with them on that boat: they left Sfax, Tunisia, and crossed the Mediterranean. The kitty had grown up with them since he was little, a bond that no level of desperation could break.

But after arriving on the island their paths separated: Rambo observed the quarantine, over six months as required by the law for animals from those areas of Africa, while the Maaloul family, after the passage from the Center of welcome on the island, he found accommodation in Ceraso, in the province of Salerno, thanks to a project activated by the Campania municipality.

Rambo was entrusted and cared for by Daniela Palazzo, a woman who lives in Lampedusa. Far away, divided, until yesterday. When was the last page of this Christmas story written. Rambo made another journey, this time more peaceful, to reunite with his family: mother Fatma, father Ahmed and his daughters Rayan, Bayan and Farah.

A ceremony, to celebrate this moment of joy, this act of humanity, celebrated in the Council Chamber of the small town in Campania which was attended by the mayor of Ceraso Aniello Crocamo, the mayor of Lampedusa Totò Martello, the councilor for Legality of Campania Mario Morcone , Emiliano Sanges president of Apeiron Coop Sociale, Anna Ceprano president of Legacoop Campania.

"Our daughters are so happy - say Fatma and Ahmed - finally they can hug little Rambo again. We want to thank all those who have worked hard to make this possible, for our girls this is a fairy tale that becomes reality, for them it will be a special Christmas ".
