A young 18-year-old delivery man lost his life Thursday evening in Albi, hit by a train.

According to the firefighters of Tarn, the tragedy took place around 7.40 p.m., at the level crossing of the rue de Bourdès.

The victim died instantly.

There were no injuries among the 27 passengers who were on board the regional train and who were transported by bus.

The accident disrupted SNCF traffic for about three hours, with trains stuck at Albi Madeleine station.

An investigation was opened to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy and in particular to establish whether the young delivery man forced the barriers.
