"
From now on only vaccination will be valid in the past
", insisted the head of the French government Jean Castex at the end of a health defense council.
"
A bill will be submitted to Parliament at the beginning of January in particular to transform the health pass into a vaccination pass, and toughen the conditions of control and sanctions against false passes
", he continued.
"
It is not admissible that the refusal of a few million French people to be vaccinated puts the life of an entire country at risk and undermines the daily lives of a vast majority of French people who have played along since the start of this crisis.
», Hammered the head of government.
A consultation at the start of the year
"
I will proceed to the preliminary consultation on this project at the beginning of next week, as well as on any other useful measures to extend the vaccination as much as possible.
We assume that it is a constraint on the unvaccinated, because the critical care and resuscitation services of our hospitals are mostly filled with unvaccinated people
, ”explained Jean Castex.
At the same time, “
the so-called 'going towards' approaches towards populations who may have missed out on vaccination through ignorance or because they are traditionally the furthest removed from the health care system will be amplified,”
he continued. .
The deadline for accessing the vaccine booster will be reduced to four months instead of five.
The pressure is on
The Omicron variant, whose speed of propagation is "
lightning around us in Europe
", "
will spread very quickly to the point of becoming dominant from the beginning of the year 2022
" in France, also estimated Jean Castex.
Hospitals continue to fill up: more than 15,400 Covid patients are treated, including nearly 3,000 people in critical care and in the past 24 hours, 163 people have died of Covid in hospital, according to published data this Friday by Public Health France.
The government fears a saturation of hospitals with the approach of the end of year holidays, in particular because of staff on leave during this period.
