In its opinion on Thursday, the Law Council said no to lifting the beach protection at smaller lakes and watercourses to instead ensure a zone for free passage.

This autumn, there were tough negotiations between the Social Democrats, the Center Party and the Green Party on beach protection.

C wanted to see more flexible beach protection so that rural municipalities could build in attractive locations close to the beach, while MP was against the reforms in beach protection.

In November, the parties still managed to agree on the legal council's referral, which has now been reviewed.

The Green Party's spokesman Per Bolund, and former Minister of the Environment and Climate, says that it is important to listen to the Legal Council's criticism.

He is now calling for new talks with S and C before the government presents a proposal for the risk day.

- We already have a political agreement that is a good basis for a beach protection agreement and it is natural that the parties behind it sit down.

I think we should cherish the agreement we have.

Without the Green Party's votes in the Riksdag, it will not be possible to implement it, says Per Bolund, who expects Minister of the Environment and Climate Annika Strandhäll (S) to invite talks.

C: The focus is fixed

Relaxed beach protection was one of the Center Party's demands to release Magdalena Andersson (S) as Prime Minister.

C will now analyze the Law Council's opinion and expect after Christmas negotiations on what the bill should look like.

- As we now move on, we will analyze and take forward the views that the Law Council has had and take it with us in the work.

But the overall focus of making it easier to build in the countryside remains.

When it's time for negotiations, we are ready, says the party's rural policy spokesperson Kristina Yngwe.

The Green Party's participation in the negotiations has not yet been decided by the Center Party.

- We have not discussed between the various parties what the continued process should look like, says Kristina Yngwe.

S goes through the Law Council's criticism

Annika Strandhäll currently has no comments on Per Bolund's proposal for new talks.

"It is important to have a good dialogue with the parties in the Riksdag, but the government will first analyze the Law Council's opinion and then let us know how we proceed in the matter," says Annika Strandhäll in a written comment to SVT News.
