Kyodo News and NHK reported that 19 people have been confirmed dead so far in a fire that occurred in an eight-story building in Kita-ku, Osaka City, Japan on the morning of the 17th.



Of the 28 people injured in the fire, 27 were rescued from cardiopulmonary arrest.



Nineteen of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals, and 19 were confirmed dead, and three were resuscitated by cardiopulmonary resuscitation.



The fire broke out in an eight-story commercial building in downtown Osaka City.



At around 10:20 a.m., a report that "the fourth floor of the building was on fire" was received by the local fire department, and a fire engine was dispatched to extinguish it, and it was almost extinguished around 10:46.



A hospital is located on the fourth floor of the building where the fire occurred, and a clothing store and an English language school are located on the other floors.



All 27 patients who were in cardiac arrest were on the fourth floor.



Considering the scene of the fire, the local police believe that there is a suspicion of arson and are investigating.



Kyodo News reported, citing an investigative person, that there is information that a man in his 60s has witnessed an ignition near a paper bag in possession.
