Return to prison after nine years on the run.
On Wednesday evening, a man in his fifties, who escaped in 2012 from the Muret detention center, south of Toulouse, was arrested in the parking lot of a supermarket in the commune of Issoire, in the Puy-de-Dôme.
The one who had been "already convicted of murder, armed robbery and escape" was alone behind the wheel of a powerful SUV when the gendarmes arrested him.
If he tried to flee by forcing the passage deployed by the military, he did not, however, put up strong resistance to the twenty members of the police present to challenge him, according to
La Montagne
.
Back to Muret during the week
The Toulouse gendarmes had always been looking for him since his escape.
For several weeks they had been on the trail of this man living in hiding who was "likely to go to the sector" of Issoire.
The fugitive was brought before the Clermont-Ferrand public prosecutor on Thursday and was taken into custody at the Riom remand center.
He should return to the Muret detention center during the week.
