Another project of the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) in court.

In the coming days, three environmental protection associations will seize the administrative court of Lille to prevent the launch of work on the first 3 sections of the North-West Intercommunal Liaison (LINO) when the work was due to start in early 2022.

After the Saint-Sauveur project, it will soon be the LINO project that will end up in court. Together, the ASPI, EcoLoos and Nord nature environnement associations will file “an appeal against the environmental authorization”, issued by the prefecture at the end of last August. The applicants have not yet detailed the grievances raised against the LINO, which must be clarified in a press conference, organized on Friday.

This could be a big blow for this road infrastructure project, which has been in the works of the institution since 2005 and which has already taken a long time.

The administrative tribunal would still have to consider the request to be admissible.

In her report, the environmental commissioner had issued only 8 recommendations relating in particular to the noise impact of automobile traffic that the project would generate.
