The breakdown by academy of public education jobs for the start of the September 2022 school year was presented on Wednesday by the Ministry of National Education, which kept "the priority given to primary school" in front of the college and the high school.

In primary school, a sharp demographic drop is expected again at the start of the 2022 school year, with a reduction in the number of 67,000 students.

This phenomenon will affect the whole territory, apart from Mayotte and Guyana.

"Reinforce the discharges of school directors"

Despite this drop in numbers, "a further increase of 1,965 teaching resources" (teachers) is planned in the first level, the ministry said in a press release issued after the meeting of a ministerial technical committee (CTMEN). ). They will be used to "reinforce the priority given to primary school, with the limitation of classes in the main section of kindergarten, CP and CE1, to 24 students in all territories, and the continuation of the duplication of classes in the major section of kindergarten. in priority education ”.

They will also "achieve an unprecedented supervision rate with 5.94 teachers per 100 students, against 5.46 in 2017" and "strengthen the discharges of school directors", details the press release.

In secondary education, a drop in the number of students (-6,600) is also expected, after a first decrease at the start of the 2021 school year, while the secondary level “will benefit from 1,615 additional full-time equivalents”, indicates the ministry.

In total, "these new measures result in an increase or a stability of teaching resources in all academies, both in the first degree and in the second degree," said the press release.

"The breakage continues"

But this increase in teaching resources is essentially linked to a reform of the initial training of teachers, which will automatically lead to an increase in full-time jobs (some trainee teachers are starting full-time during their internship year and not more part-time), explained the ministry.

Jobs, for their part, will not increase, as planned in the budget, with a lack of creation of posts in the first degree and the elimination of more than 400 teaching posts in the second degree (while the secondary will experience in parallel the creation of 300 posts of principal educational advisers, 50 posts of nurses and social workers and 60 posts of inspectors).

"The breakage continues", regretted the Snes-FSU, the first secondary school union.

"That in five years, the second degree has been so forgotten, it is disastrous for the youth," lamented its secretary general, Sophie Vénétitay.

The SE-Unsa union, for its part, denounced in a press release "the choice of renunciation", considering in particular that "the conditions of teaching, learning and exercise in the secondary level will continue to deteriorate".
