This Monday, December 13, around 6 p.m., a woman was preparing a pedestrian crossing with her 7-year-old child in Grigny (Rhône), reports

Noticing a car approaching them at high speed, the woman had the reflex to throw her child in front of her, out of the road.

She herself was violently struck, the shock having propelled her to 20 meters.

The driver was under the influence of drugs

The driver then abandoned his vehicle to escape on foot.

This forty-something later went to the Givors police station.

Placed in police custody, he was under the influence of narcotics, and was to be presented to the Lyon prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

The victim, seriously injured, was transported to a Lyon hospital by the firefighters.

The child is safe and sound.
