A Qatari official confirmed that activist Nouf Al-Maadeed is in a safe condition, putting an end to recent rumors that she was in danger after she stopped blogging on Twitter since mid-October.
In an interview with the British Guardian newspaper, the Qatari official stressed that Al-Ma’adeed was safe and in good health, explaining that he could not speak publicly about this issue due to a request related to respect for privacy.
Human rights groups had called on the Qatari authorities to reveal the fate of Nouf Al-Maadid, who had previously written that she was being threatened by her family.
