This was announced by the assistant to the Russian leader Yuri Ushakov.

“From our side, and from the Chinese side, a negative assessment was expressed about the creation of new alliances such as the Indo-Pacific Quad and the American-Anglo-Australian Union AUKUS,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to him, the leaders spoke in detail about the fact that "the last alliance, an alliance, it generally undermines the foundations of the nuclear non-proliferation regime and, in general, so to speak, raises the level of military tension in the region."

Earlier, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, said that the formation of the AUKUS block creates the preconditions for the spread of nuclear technologies.

He noted that the formation of Australia's nuclear submarine fleet could become a new stage in the struggle for dominance not only in the Asia-Pacific, but also in other regions of the world.

According to Gerasimov, Russia is in favor of multilateral mechanisms for ensuring security, taking into account the interests of all states.

On September 16, the UK, US and Australia announced a new AUKUS security partnership centered on the Indo-Pacific.
