The US House of Representatives, by a simple majority, approved a bill presented by Democratic Muslim Representative Ilhan Omar to combat the phenomenon of Islamophobia around the world, in response to racist statements by Republican Representative Lauren Poubert against Ilhan.

And voted in favor of the bill, 219 deputies in the House of Representatives compared to 212, according to what was reported by American media.

CNN reported that the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives voted in favor of passing Ilhan Omar's bill, which would create a special office within the State Department to combat Islamophobia worldwide.

This vote came a week after the progressive Democrats in Congress introduced a separate bill to expel Poubert Republic from congressional committees. She may be a terrorist.

The bill would address the growing incidence of Islamophobia around the world, and it still needs to be passed by the Senate before it can be turned over to President Joe Biden for his signature into law.

According to CNN, the bill had been on the table in the House Foreign Affairs Committee for months, but was voted out of the committee after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi came under increasing pressure from members of her party to take severe action against Poubert over her comments.

The President of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Nihad Awad, considered the vote a "historic success for Muslims," explaining that the draft resolution comes as a result of cooperation with leaders in Congress.

Historic success for Muslims.

We welcome the success of the historic draft resolution in the US Congress establishing a special office in the US State Department to combat and monitor Islamophobia in the world.

We worked with Representative Elhan Omar and many congressional leaders to take serious measures to protect Muslims around the world from religious persecution.

And earlier this month, Ilhan appeared on CNN's "State of the Union" program, and said that there are countless death threats, which cause her and her team a lot of fear, considering that this spreads fear in the whole community.

Poubert refused to apologize in a call with Ilhan, but late last month she made a public apology via Twitter "to anyone in the Muslim community who was offended by my statements."

In a recent press conference held by the three Muslim representatives in Congress, Ilhan Omar said that it is not possible to pretend that hate speech issued by senior politicians is devoid of real consequences, stressing that hatred against Muslims is on the rise, whether in the United States or in the world.
