Johnson rules out new restrictions


The British government is not thinking of new restrictions in the face of the surge in Covid cases due to the Omicron variant. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, speaking at a press conference, claimed the 'Plan B' measures and booster vaccination, and urged the population to "think carefully" before going out during the holiday season.

Spain, 27 thousand cases in 24 hours, a record since July 


There are 27,140 cases of Covid-19 and 77 deaths reported today in Spain, a record since last July 28. This is learned from the latest bulletin of the Ministry of Health. In terms of incidence, the 14-day index today stands at 441 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while yesterday it was 412. The occupancy rates of hospital beds are 5.2% in ordinary wards and 13.4 % in intensive care. In the last 14 days, over 209,000 cases of Covid have been diagnosed in Spain, where the curve of new infections continues to rise. Of these infections, 121,000 were detected in the past week. In total, almost 5.4 million cases and 88,619 deaths are accounted for in the Iberian country. Meanwhile, 65% of immunized people over 60 have already received an additional dose of the anti-Covid vaccine.

Record of infections also in South Africa, the first country to report the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has recorded 26,976 infections in the last 24 hours and 54 deaths.
