“Every day we are working to keep open the channels of diplomatic interaction, to carry out dialogue with Europeans and direct contacts with Ukrainians and Russians, as well as strive and follow the diplomatic way out of the situation,” said Psaki.

She also announced the visit of US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried to Russia to discuss the alleged "build-up" of military forces on the Russian-Ukrainian border. 

Earlier, White House spokesman Karin Jean-Pierre said that Russia and the United States maintain constant high-level contact regarding the situation around Ukraine.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia has never become hostile to other states.

Also, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, in an interview with an RT correspondent, stressed that in Moscow they see "numerous ducks" that are thrown about the allegedly planned "aggression" of Russia against Ukraine.
