The trade in the region is hoping that the ribbon rule will prevail.

"We are happy that many cities and municipalities are solving the 2-G control in this way," says Sven Rohde, Managing Director of the Hessen Trade Association.

"We support the topic wherever possible." The ribbon regulation has advantages for retailers and customers, because they only have to present proof of vaccination and ID card once and then they can move around freely.

The Frankfurt dealers also wanted the ribbon solution “today rather than tomorrow,” says Rohde, but the political decision is still pending.

As everywhere in Frankfurt, the public order office has to play along.

“Trade and politics must go hand in hand and ensure that the ribbon rule is implemented quickly,” demands Rohde.

There has been positive feedback from all cities and municipalities that work with the ribbon access control, such as Mainz, Hanau and Bad Nauheim.

In many places, the town halls and civil offices would also support the trade with control.

Offenbach calls for tests

Offenbach's mayor Sabine Groß (Die Grünen) has called on citizens to celebrate Christmas with increased caution in view of an incidence of 426 in the leather city and the highly contagious Omikron variant of the corona virus. "With Omikron, according to current scientific data, there is a new variant in the country that is spreading much faster without protective measures - just a few minutes in the vicinity of an already infected person are enough for an infection," said Groß: "That is why vaccinated families should, who want to meet at Christmas, do a test beforehand. "

With the vaccinations, the risk of getting seriously ill is lower, but it is very likely that many more people were infected with corona this month than at Christmas 2020. The probability of meeting someone with an infection and getting infected is despite the vaccinations increased, said Groß.

She pointed out that people who have received a booster vaccine are by far the best protected.

Vaccination station also open on Sundays

Meanwhile, the Offenbach vaccination station in the Bernardbau is open seven days a week.

Those wishing to vaccinate can also use the station on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At the end of December, the range of vaccinations is to be expanded to include uniform opening times from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.

Independently of this, two mobile vaccination teams are out and about in the city every day to visit old people's homes and vaccinate people who cannot leave their homes.

According to the city, the second municipal vaccination station will soon open in the former construction office on the ground floor of the town hall.

Vaccinations should be possible there by appointment.

However, it is currently difficult for service providers to find competent staff, and the availability of vaccines cannot be taken for granted either.
