Johnson announces the first death from the Omicron mutant in Britain

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced today, Monday, the first death of a case infected with the Omicron mutation in Britain.

"Unfortunately, Omicron increases the need for hospital care, and unfortunately, the death of at least one patient with the Omicron mutation has been confirmed," Johnson said during a visit to a vaccination center in west London, the British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, quoted Johnson as saying.

He added, "So I think we should put aside the idea that this mutant is a less severe version of the virus, and acknowledge the clear pace that it is accelerating among citizens. So the best thing we can do is get the booster doses of the vaccine against the Corona virus."
