The toll is very heavy.

Four people died Sunday evening on the A20 motorway near the town of Nespouls, in Corrèze, in an accident with a salt spreader, we learned from the gendarmerie and firefighters.

At around 9:20 p.m., the car, which was traveling in the direction of Toulouse to Paris in foggy weather, got stuck under the salt spreader and caught fire.

Its three occupants as well as the operator of the salt spreader, trapped in the flames, died on the spot.

The motorized brigade of Uzerche is seized of the investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

The bodies were transferred to the Limoges Forensic Institute.
