Field sources reported the continuation of violent battles in the Yemeni governorate of Ma'rib between Houthi militants and government forces, while the Saudi-led military coalition announced the killing of 215 Houthi militants.

Well-informed Yemeni military sources said that violent battles took place on Sunday between the Yemeni army and the Ansar Allah Houthi militia in the south and west of Ma'rib Governorate.

The Houthis continue to push large reinforcements towards "Jabhan" in the south of the province.

The sources indicated that the coalition warplanes launched raids on gatherings and vehicles belonging to the Houthis.

On Sunday, the Arab coalition announced the killing of 215 Houthis in the Marib Governorate, the western coast of the country, during the past 24 hours.

This came in a statement issued by the coalition, published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The coalition reported that it had carried out 35 targeting operations against the "militia" in Marib during the past 24 hours.

He added that "the targeting destroyed 21 military vehicles and eliminated more than 200 terrorist elements."

The coalition also stated that it had carried out 3 targeting operations to support the West Coast forces (loyal to the government), which resulted in the destruction of two Houthi military vehicles and the killing of 15 of them.

It was not possible to obtain an immediate comment from the Houthi group on the coalition statement.

Since last February, the Houthis have doubled their attacks in Marib to control it, as it is the most important stronghold of the government and the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, in addition to its enjoyment of oil and gas wealth, and the Marib gas station, which before the war supplied most of the governorates with electricity.

Yemen has been witnessing for nearly 7 years a continuous war between the pro-government forces backed by an Arab military coalition led by the neighboring Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled several governorates, including the capital, Sanaa, since September 2014.
