At a time of a fifth wave and a recall campaign extended to all adults, the issue of childhood vaccinations and a possible health pass is more topical than ever. For Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of Transformation and Public Service and guest of Europe Soir, the health pass for children "is not the strategy adopted" by the government.

Saturday, Jean Castex affirms that the vaccination of children from 5 to 11 years old is necessary to fight against the epidemic.

Sunday, Olivier Véran, encourages to vaccinate children suffering from comorbidities.

Twelve days before Christmas, how should France now organize itself to deal with the fifth wave of Covid-19?

Asked about the subject in Europe Soir, the Minister of Transformation and Public Service, Amélie de Montchalin, assures him, "there is no question of establishing a health pass for children, it is not d 'topicality,' she said.

Make "the choice of responsibility"

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Health announced Monday that children with co-morbidities can be vaccinated from mid-December.

But the question of vaccinating all 5-11 year olds remains topical and could happen soon.

"I think we have to do things step by step in this epidemic", assures Amélie de Montchalin at the microphone of Pierre de Vilno.

"We are awaiting the opinion of the Haute Autorité de santé to see how, for other children, on a voluntary basis, we can go further."

Establishing a health pass for children "is not the strategy adopted" by the executive.

"The decision itself to vaccinate the children has not been made public and is not authorized," she said.

The Minister of Transformation and Public Service assures us that the government has always made the "choice of responsibility and volunteering".

"The choice we make first is to ensure that we protect the most fragile and that we put with us all the tools necessary for the epidemic to recede," she explains.

"The health pass was deployed to encourage the most vulnerable people, and in particular those for whom the benefit of the vaccine was justified, to be vaccinated."
