• For several weeks, part of Toulouse Métropole's garbage cans have not been collected, the agents taking longer to make their rounds.

  • A way to denounce the programmed end of the "finished party" system for garbage collectors, while Toulouse Métropole announced that this provision would no longer be in effect at the start of the year.

  • While negotiations have failed, the unions are calling on the garbage collectors to a renewable strike from Thursday.

In recent weeks, the inhabitants of certain districts of Toulouse have noticed that their various bins were not collected.

A situation that has occurred on numerous occasions, as a consequence of the announcement made by Toulouse Métropole at the beginning of November to put an end to the "finished party" system, which allows garbage collectors to leave their post once their tour is completed. .

A decision taken by the community to comply with the law on the transformation of the civil service which now requires territorial agents to work 1,607 hours per year, or 35 hours per week, and not 25 hours on average currently depending on the metropolis.

To oppose this change, which should take effect in January, a large part of the agents had, at first, decided to apply the regulations to the letter.

In fact, they did not finish their tour on time.

As of Thursday, they decided to toughen their tone by filing a notice of renewable strike.

"The finished party must be abandoned" for Toulouse Métropole

That day, the elected officials of Toulouse Métropole meet for the metropolitan council and the garbage collectors intend to voice their discontent. Their unions deplore the fact that in the negotiations, the collectivity poses the end of the "finished party" as a prerequisite for dialogue. “Finishing off is illegal and dangerous for officers. On December 8, we made proposals to compensate days for hardship. We are ready to negotiate on these days of constraints. We are not against going back on certain provisions, but the finished job must be abandoned ”, insists Vincent Terrail-Novés, vice-president in charge of waste and cleanliness at Toulouse Métropole.

A few days before the holidays, the situation therefore seems to be blocked.

If the strike is renewable every day, given the mobilization of recent weeks, it could last.
