Regulars are starting to get used to it.

But irregular customers each time open wide eyes of surprise when they arrive in front of the store.

Since the beginning of the month, a surprising fresco has adorned the walls of the Intermarché Express in rue Félix-Thomas, Saint-Félix district in Nantes.

Numerous designs evoking

the Jungle Book

have been spray painted on the entire main facade of the store, as well as on the walls surrounding the private parking lot.

We find, for example, the face of Mowgli but also a Bengal tiger, a great ape, a crocodile, birds ... All in a dominant green far removed from the codes of the brand.

The work is signed by the artist collective Amuz-Bulea-Ricoh, at the request of the manager and owner of the premises, Olivier Besset.

"Very fun, very family-friendly"

“I wanted an innovative store, something that would surprise people.

The artists made me this proposal and I immediately hooked, says Olivier Besset.

The greenery, the animals, the trompe-l'oeil, it's very fun, very family-friendly, it oxygenates.

This building was really ugly, now it catches the eye positively.

"

The work lasted two weeks. The owner having failed to file a prior declaration, the city of Nantes first called him to order. Before validating the fresco. Customer opinions are mixed. " I love ! It gives character to the store, ”appreciates Laurence. “It's great to be daring like this. It's a change from the usual supermarket facades which are all the same, ”comments, also delighted, Manon, near the entrance. Farès is much less convinced. “It’s weird. Really kitsch. We don't really understand the relationship with the store or the neighborhood. "

Olivier Besset does not intend to stop there.

Perennials will soon be added to the walls to enhance the jungle effect.

"There are few cities in France where you can afford this kind of creativity", estimates the owner, who even hopes that the place can, why not, become a "new stage of the Voyage à Nantes".
