Expo 2020 Dubai celebrated healthcare workers at the “Expo 2020” edition of “Walk the Talk”, the first event of its kind to be held in the Middle East, where front-line workers of different ages, backgrounds and abilities gathered with their families, to confirm Every person has the right to receive the care he needs.

A virtual version of the event is available on the “Stippy” application, to advance the march towards achieving the goal of three billion steps globally by 2023. The application represents a mechanism for capturing those steps, as it allows the public around the world to participate in the march to achieve the goal of the event.

The UAE is famous for having one of the most prominent health sectors in the world.

Its decisive and organized response to the pandemic has received special praise and admiration, as it topped the list of countries in the world on the “Bloomberg” index for recovering from the pandemic, after it scored third place in October, due to the high vaccination rates and strong precautionary measures in the country.

The success is based on a strong health care system, which placed the UAE in the 20th place among the list of the best countries in the world in the field of health care, according to the Global Index of Innovation in Health Care, with a total score of 45.23, which achieved its superiority over many other leading economies.

Healthcare is a way of life in the UAE, and Dubai Health Authority law requires Dubai companies to provide their employees with a customized health insurance plan.

The commitment to providing high-quality health care is reflected in the country's spending of $1,200 per capita on the health care sector, making it among the top 20 countries in terms of spending in the health care sector for individuals.

The UAE is not only interested in developing its healthcare systems, but has also taken steps to provide support to other countries around the world.

The country responded to the “Covid-19” pandemic crisis by providing aid of more than 1,248 metric tons to 92 countries, as well as supporting more than one million medical professionals in this process.

The international event was instrumental in supporting and concerted global efforts to improve universal health coverage.

Since 2016, the Expo Live Innovation Impact Grants Program has awarded grants ranging from $100,000 to $500,000 to projects and institutions from 76 countries.

The projects were carefully selected to support the broader healthcare sector around the world.

Examples of grantees included the GIC Med project, Cameroon, which aims to reduce mortality rates from breast and cervical cancer in disadvantaged communities that generally lack access to cancer care services.

The international event also supported its workers and employees through the implementation of its long-term strategic program "Better Together", which focuses on the health and well-being of all workers around it.

The Workers' Welfare Team, in cooperation with the contracting agencies, has implemented large-scale programs focusing on health, including a comprehensive vaccination program to protect workers during the pandemic.

In addition, the implementation of the Worker Welfare Program at Expo 2020 Dubai also began in October 2017, to monitor the health and well-being of workers using a high-tech and wearable fitness tracker “WOP”.

5540 workers participated in the program on a voluntary basis, within the pilot scheme.

The program focused on preventive health care through monitoring, reporting, treatment, and research.
