“I am a supporter of the fact that Ukraine should not be in NATO,” RIA Novosti quotes Medvedchuk.

He expressed concern that Ukraine's entry into the alliance would aggravate the "rather critical" situation in the economic and social spheres within the country.

Medvedchuk called on the Ukrainian authorities to maintain the neutral status of the state.

Earlier, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is continuing its path to the North Atlantic Alliance.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was concerned about the prospect of Ukraine's possible accession to NATO.

According to him, this decision will be followed by the deployment of military contingents, bases and weapons threatening Russia in Ukraine.
