While the ECOWAS meets this Sunday, December 12 in Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria, to rule among other things on the cases of Guinea and Mali following the coups d'état which interrupted a democratic process before its end, young supporters Alpha Condé tried to make themselves heard at their party's headquarters in Conakry to demand his release.

But they were prevented by gendarmes who did not skimp on the means.

Ignoring the call of the national leadership of the Rally of the People of Guinea to postpone this demonstration, young supporters of Alpha Condé tried to gather at the headquarters of their party to demand his release.

An attempt nipped in the bud: law enforcement officers occupied the premises from the early hours of the morning.

In small groups, the demonstrators with banners reading "

Long live democracy, down with demagoguery

 " or "

Free Alpha

" tried to approach the party headquarters.

But they were quickly dispersed with tear gas canisters after some clashes.

In the fray, some were arrested and taken to an unknown destination.

Alpha Condé, officially 84 years old soon, was elected in 2010 for a five-year term renewable once.

But at the end of his second term, he amended the Constitution to run for a third of six years.

Less than a year later, he was overthrown by the army.

Isolated for three months, he has been under house arrest for a few weeks at his wife's official home.
