Recently, the "Democracy Summit" self-directed and performed by the United States was held online.

In stark contrast to the fanfare presentation before the meeting, the real meeting process can be described as deserted. According to reports, the summit has only more than 2,000 online viewers, and the attention and influence are obvious.

During the period, accompanied by the protests of the United Nations head office and funeral for American democracy, this event with heavy thunder and rain was completely reduced to an American farce.

The Biden administration's intention to form gangs and peddling American democracy has once again miscalculated.

In the name of democracy, to act anti-democratically, and to peddle "American democracy" through the summit. Is the United States eligible?

The answer is of course no.

Today's American democracy is ill-conditioned, with issues such as money politics, identity politics, party antagonism, political polarization, social tearing, racial conflicts, and the polarization between the rich and the poor are becoming more and more serious.

Congressional riots, Freud's death, the out-of-control epidemic... facts have torn apart the fig leaf of American democracy, and the status quo of its failure has long been difficult to conceal.

Relevant surveys show that 72% of Americans believe that the United States is no longer a "democratic model" for other countries to emulate, and 81% of Americans believe that American democracy faces serious domestic threats.

Similarly, there are related polls showing that 44% of global respondents believe that the United States is the biggest threat to global democracy.

Even among American allies, most people view American democracy as a "broken past."

52% of people in EU countries believe that the American democratic system is ineffective.

Obviously, the judgment that American democracy is going to decline has increasingly become the consensus of all parties.

Draw the line with democracy and use the summit to sell "American democracy". Who is invited to join in?

Does it depend on American standards to determine whether it is democratic?

Once the list of invitees for this "summit" was announced, it drew criticism and doubts from all sides.

"The Economist" magazine directly pointed out in an article titled "Biden's Democracy Summit Is Not So Democratic", and pointedly pointed out, "Which countries are invited reflect American politics, not democratic values." The United States is the largest. The Brookings Institution, a think tank, also issued an article to interpret it as "Awkward Guests: Analyzing the List of Invitations to the Democracy Summit."

In the face of various doubts, the U.S. State Department also specifically answered the inviting country’s principles on its official website.

However, the eagerness to explain the loss of behavior, on the contrary, wants to cover it up.

Behind the high-sounding reasons, there is only one criterion for invitation: that is, countries that conform to the political interests of the United States will be invited.

Therefore, the "Japan Times" published a scholar article commenting that the so-called "democracy summit" would be reduced to a talk club.

Among the more than 100 countries and regions invited, many regions do not meet the so-called "democracy" definition.

As Steven Feldstein of the Carnegie Foundation pointed out, more than 30% of countries invited to the "Democracy Summit" are either not free or only partially free.

Using democracy as a tool and peddling "American democracy" through the summit, what is the United States' attempt?

In the context of the decline of the democratic process in the United States, the new crown pneumonia epidemic has severely hit American society, and the intensification of domestic and foreign conflicts, the real purpose of the United States to set up a stage and concoct this "democracy show" is self-evident.

This is an escalated summit of "Cold War Mind". Biden's real intention is not to democratize international relations, but to maintain the dominant position of the United States in world affairs.

The above-mentioned actions of the Biden administration caused strong dissatisfaction in the international community. Many politicians and political parties expressed their views that the "Democracy Summit" was an ideological rally in an attempt to impose the so-called democratic model approved by the United States on other countries. It aims to provoke confrontation, create new divisions in international affairs, and undermine the international order based on international law.

In this regard, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov bluntly stated that some Western countries headed by the United States want to continue to maintain hegemonic rule and try to replace the basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter with the so-called “rules-based order”.

This kind of selfish behavior cannot promote the establishment of mutual trust, nor is it conducive to solving many of the problems faced by today's era.

Democracy is the common value of all mankind, the right of the people of all countries, and not a patent monopolized by the United States.

Democracy is not one-size-fits-all. There are many ways to achieve democracy. The way to force American democracy is not only unworkable, but will also provoke contradictions and confrontations, which will cause endless harm.
