Just over a year ago, the politicians in the Svalöv council decided to say yes to a citizens' proposal for a referendum.

17 percent of the residents were behind the demand.

It would be about yes or no to "changed corporate governance".

That is, to the plans to transfer all municipal companies in a group.

Just under SEK 1 million was allocated to polling stations, staff and ballot papers.

Said yes to a municipal group

But a month later, the ruling majority in Svalöv said;

SD, KD and to some extent L, yes to creating a municipal company group with the name Svalövs Kommunhus AB.

Despite the fact that the referendum has not yet taken place.

Why did you not wait?

- This is good for Svalöv municipality, not least from a tax point of view.

And such groups exist in several cities, says Teddy Nilsson (SD), chairman of the municipal board.

Now there is confusion in Svalöv about what it is that the municipal residents should actually vote on - hear more in the clip above.

Did not want to stand in the way

But why did you not say no to the referendum?

- We do not want to stand in the way of the people's initiative.

So now there is confusion about what the people of Svalöv actually vote for on Sunday.

The municipal group has already existed for a year, calculated from the decision date.

What's the point of a referendum now?

- It is important from a democratic point of view that the people of Svalöv have the opportunity to take a stand.

Then you also have to take into account that the decision on the group was made far too quickly, says Jan Zielinski (S)
