While the government has a principle of using cash and coupons together for benefits equivalent to 100,000 yen to those under the age of 18, there are a series of voices from local governments in each region saying that the entire amount should be cash, and confusion continues.

The government is urgently considering a system that can be operated flexibly, taking into account the intentions of local governments, and we would like to wait for the establishment of the supplementary budget for this year and show it concretely next week at the earliest.

In principle, the government will start paying 50,000 yen in cash within the year and then pay 50,000 yen in coupons for benefits worth 100,000 yen for those under the age of 18.

However, from local governments in each region, Governor Kuroiwa of Kanagawa Prefecture said, "No local government in the prefecture has asked for coupon payment," and said that the payment should be made in full cash. Is one after another and the confusion continues.

Also, on the 10th, regarding the start time of cash payment of 50,000 yen, the minister in charge of economic revitalization Yamagiwa said that although the payment will start by the end of the year in more than 90% of local governments using the child allowance system for junior high school students and younger, etc. Since the child allowance system cannot be utilized, it is expected that it will be after January next year as it will be necessary to apply individually.

On the other hand, the Diet has submitted a bill stating that the municipalities desired by the Constitutional Democratic Party can also choose to receive full cash payments, and there are growing opinions from within the ruling party asking the government to respond flexibly.

For this reason, the government is urgently considering creating a system that can be operated flexibly based on the intentions of local governments, and we would like to wait for the establishment of the supplementary budget for this year and show it concretely next week at the earliest.
