09 December 2021 In Petralia Soprana (Palermo), a town in the Madonie area where just over 3,000 people live, the mayor Pietro Macaluso has ordered the closure, until a date to be determined, of all schools in all order and degree due to the increase in coronavirus infections.

Catechesis and oratory activities also closed.



"Unfortunately, from one day to the next, from a few cases throughout the territory the situation has completely reversed due to the entry of the virus in schools which has caused great concern", says the mayor.



The mayor adds: "To avoid the spread of the virus in agreement with the extraordinary provincial commissioner for the emergency, Renato Costa, we considered it essential to adopt this decision".

"Unfortunately, in the last few days there has been a surge of infections that is involving many families - explains the mayor - The invitation I make to everyone is to be careful, respect the rules and good practices by implementing all possible precautions . I hope that the situation will recover as soon as possible to prevent the most beautiful village from becoming a red zone ".

School activity will continue with distance learning until new provisions are made.
