A car was found floating in Niagara Falls just before it sank.

The Coast Guard mobilized helicopters to rescue the driver, but unfortunately the driver, who was trapped in the car, was eventually found dead.

According to the US ABC News report on the 9th (local time), a car floated away from Niagara Falls in the US yesterday (8th) with the trunk open.

Tourists at the site took photos and videos of the situation at the time.

After receiving the report, the local police dispatched a drone to check if there was anyone in the vehicle, and immediately mobilized the Coast Guard to rescue.

The sunken car was located 50 meters from Niagara Falls, and it was expected that the river would be turbulent with snow and strong winds around Niagara Falls at the time, making rescue operations difficult.

Coast Guard rescuers, who arrived in a helicopter, got on a rope and pulled the driver out, but it was confirmed that the driver was dead.

"I was worried about the torrent and the weather, but luckily the car door was unlocked, so it was easy to rescue," the rescue worker said.

The driver who died was a woman in her 60s, and local police confirmed that the woman was a local resident, but her identity was not disclosed because she had not yet been in contact with her family.

The vehicle was salvaged after the body was recovered, and it is not yet known how the car drifted into the heart of the Niagara River.

"The rescue of the Coast Guard was excellent," said Christopher Lola State Park Police Chief.

At that time, the road was very slippery due to the thin snow that fell in the area, but the local police investigation is expected to continue as Niagara Falls, along with the Golden Gate Bridge, is considered as one of the places where many suicides occurred in the United States.
