What words did the French type the most in their Google search bar in 2021?

Like every year, the American company unveiled the list of the most popular words, concepts and personalities on the net.

News obliges, the terms related to the health crisis are found in pole position alongside, among others, Daft Punk and Ary Abittan.

Every year, Google unveils the list of the most trending words, which generally correspond to the events which made the news.

Words related to the health crisis

Unsurprisingly, queries related to the health crisis are at the top of Google searches.

You have very often typed on your keyboards the words "certificate", "curfew", "Quickly my dose" and "sanitary pass".

Same thing when it comes to formulating questions: "When Macron speaks?", "Who can get vaccinated?"

or "Contact case? What to do?"

On the Internet, the French have also looked for definitions.

On the 2021 podium: "survivalists", "half-gauge" and "hybrid".

Afghanistan and bitcoin were the themes that saw the strongest growth.

Sport has also been at the center of much research with "Euro 2021", "Ligue 1" and "Roland-Garros".

In the cultural list, for music, it is quite naturally the Daft Punk, who announced their separation in 2021, and Barbara Pravi, second at the Eurovision Song Contest, who triumph.

 were the most recurrent. The public figures at the top of the rankings have all made headlines this year, including Ary Abittan, number 1 in research. The comedian was indicted for rape on October 30, following a complaint from a 23-year-old young woman. Richard Berry, fourth in the ranking, was accused of incest by his daughter. The sportsmen Kylian Mbappé and Rafael Nadal occupy the third and seventh places.

Finally, on the recipe side, it is the Galette des Rois by Cyril Lignac that comes first.

And quite unexpectedly, this question went viral on social networks: "Why were chainsaws invented?"
