As follows from the text of the draft resolution, we are talking about Transnistria.

Price and Pfluger recalled that Russia retains a contingent of armed forces in the region, as well as military equipment and ammunition, which allegedly is "the occupation of Moldovan territory and a violation of the country's territorial sovereignty."

Along with this, the congressmen added that the policy of the United States is aimed at "supporting the independence" of Moldova and the "inviolability of its borders", in connection with which they called on Moscow to withdraw its forces "from the internationally recognized territory" of the republic.

In November 2020, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Chisinau was in favor of a dialogue with Moscow on the problem of the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria - the operational group of Russian troops (OGRV) and peacekeepers.

Commenting on this initiative, the head of the unrecognized republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that Transnistria does not separate the OGRF from the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

“Russian servicemen from the OGRV serve in the peacekeeping contingent on a rotational basis.

These are the Russian soldiers who protect peace and tranquility, ”he said.

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the purpose of finding peacekeepers in Transnistria is to prevent "a new outbreak of the bloody conflict."

Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that Russian servicemen are in the specified region legally.
