“In connection with these provocative actions, the US Embassy in Moscow was handed a note of protest on December 8 warning of the dangerous consequences of such recklessness,” Zakharova said in a statement.

Zakharova noted that the presentation made to the American side lists recent incidents that "only by a lucky coincidence" and thanks to the timely response of Russian pilots and air traffic controllers did not lead to a tragedy.

The Foreign Ministry also stressed that the dangerous activity of NATO aviation lies in the fact that the flights of their military aircraft are carried out without radio communication, providing flight plans and obtaining air traffic control clearance.

“This violates the basic principles of international air navigation in accordance with the 1944 Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, as well as other norms of international law,” Zakharova said.

On December 4, in order to avoid a dangerous rapprochement with an American reconnaissance aircraft, a civilian liner heading from Tel Aviv to Moscow changed course over the Black Sea.

The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that the Russian aviation authorities are initiating a protest over the incident over the Black Sea through diplomatic channels.

At the same time, the Pentagon denies statements that the maneuvers of the US reconnaissance aircraft created a threat to the Russian passenger liner.
