The electric bicycle pool was launched in 2019 and now, just three years later, the service will be completely phased out.

According to the municipality, use has decreased - among other things due to the ongoing corona pandemic.

- From my perspective, this is not really an issue that lies in the municipality's mission, but something that should be transferred to the market.

Despite this, we have tried to find solutions to continue, preferably with the help of external actors.

Those conditions have not existed, says Niklas Borg (M), chairman of the municipal board on Linköping municipality's website.

The agreement with the supplier actually extends to 2025 with a municipal cost of SEK 21 million, of which SEK 12 million would have come from advertising revenue.

The municipality reckons that an early closure will cost less than continuing to run the service.

When Linbike can be fully discontinued is not clear.
