High-quality satellite images of the Monitoring and Verification Unit of the Al Jazeera Network (SANAD) showed Ethiopia's preparations to start generating electricity from the low turbines of the Renaissance Dam.

The following image, taken on December 3, shows the completion of the construction of a barrier in front of the exit of the dam's low turbines.

The following picture also shows construction and equipment works in the water passage holes for the turbines that generate electricity with the lower turbines.

Other photos reveal the completion of construction operations in the turbine openings on both sides of the dam.

It also reveals a picture of the completion of the power line wiring between the towers of the power plant in the dam and the neighboring towers, in preparation for the start of operating the turbines and the start of the generation process.

Low-quality satellite images show a continuous decrease in the level of water flowing from the middle path of the dam, and a significant decrease in water levels behind and in front of it, during the last period, which indicates the approaching date of drying of the middle path and the start of its heightening in preparation for the third filling.

Earlier, the Ethiopian Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Seleshi Begley, said that the generation of electricity using the turbines of the Renaissance Dam will be in the first months of the new Ethiopian year, which began on September 13 last.

"We have done a lot of work this year to get to this point, we are working hard to produce the next turbines," he added.
