08 December 2021 The match between Atalanta and Villarreal has been postponed to tomorrow, Thursday 9 December, at a time to be defined, due to the heavy snow that continues to fall on the Orobic city.

Previously, the kick-off of the match was postponed by 20 minutes, from 21 to 21.20, valid for the sixth and final day of the group stage of the Champions League, Group F, and decisive for the passage to the second round.

The decision was made by the English referee, Taylor, to allow the Gewiss Stadium officials to shovel the snow off the pitch.

The tarps, placed on the pitch on the eve in anticipation of snowfall, were removed at 5.30 pm, just when the snowfall, hitherto abundantly mixed with water, increased in intensity.

In fact, a heavy snowfall hit Bergamo in the late afternoon, which cast doubt on the smooth running of the match.

Then the worsening of the situation led to choose the postponement of the race until tomorrow.

Bergamaschi and Spaniards, divided by a point in the standings, will therefore qualify for the round of 16 tomorrow, except for still adverse weather conditions.
