  According to reports, the Indian Air Force News Department tweeted: "The Indian Air Force Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying General Biping Rawat crashed today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu."

  Indian Prime Minister Modi and Defense Minister Singh have been briefed on the crash.

A spokesperson for the Congress Party requested an investigation into the helicopter crash, saying that the helicopters were recently purchased.

  Up to now, 4 people have died; another 3 people have been rescued with serious injuries and have been sent to hospital for treatment.
