The measures that are introduced include a recommendation that employers should offer employees the opportunity to work at home, and that mouth guards should be used if congestion in public transport can not be avoided.

The government now hopes to slow down the spread of infection and reduce the risk of the pressure on healthcare becoming too high.

- But we have a completely different situation compared to last year.

Now we have a large proportion of the population who are vaccinated and this means that even though we have an extensive spread of infection, we do not see the same imprint on health care and intensive care, says the Public Health Agency's Director General Karin Tegmark Wisell in Aktuellt.

- The intention now is to have appropriate measures, because we know that powerful measures have negative consequences for public health.

The measures must really be necessary, says Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S) in Aktuellt.

Can be quickly decided on new measures

Lena Hallengren points out that stricter restrictions risk leading to negative consequences for public health, among other things.

- We will have as tough measures as required, but no more, she says.

But more measures are still to be expected if the spread of infection increases - then the government will decide on the next step in the action plan.

- If it turns out that we get a significantly increased spread of infection and burden on healthcare, we take further steps and then it can go relatively quickly.

Our ambition with this plan is to provide the best possible foresight and provide the opportunity for some preparation, says Lena Hallengren.
