“For all the geopolitical complexity of the conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, this is a dialogue between two leaders of the strongest world powers, and this is already good,” the senator emphasized.

She also noted that this is "a dialogue about specific problems that will have to be solved in one way or another."

“It is quite obvious that the Russian-American dialogue must be continued in any political weather, since both Russians and Americans are equally interested in it,” concluded Kovitidi.

At the same time, the parliamentarian added that calls for the need to compel Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the military confrontation in eastern Ukraine are being heard more and more actively in Europe.

“The world needs peace, and this is the only way to relieve tensions in Europe,” she said.

Earlier, the White House press service reported that during the talks via video link, Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Joe Biden discussed issues of strategic security, the situation with cyber attacks, as well as joint work on regional issues, in particular Iran.

Biden, during talks with the Russian leader, noted the concern of the United States and its European allies in connection with the alleged "build-up of Russian forces" on the border with Ukraine. 

The talks between Putin and Biden in the format of a videoconference ended, they lasted just over two hours.
