As Petrov explained, the offer concerns the sale of low-alcohol sparkling wines and champagne from December 31 to January 1 (New Year's Eve) and from January 6 to January 7 (Orthodox Christmas celebration).

“Undoubtedly, limiting the time for selling alcohol helps to reduce its abuse among the population and, in fact, is the prevention of social crime.

However, there should be exceptions to any rule: the opportunity to legally purchase a couple of bottles of champagne after 22: 00-23: 00 on the eve of the New Year and Christmas, "Petrov said.

He also noted that many people who spend a significant amount of time in their workplaces before the holiday or are employed in enterprises with special work schedules may be limited in their ability to purchase champagne and other varieties of sparkling wine.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider the possibility of making appropriate amendments to the current legal framework governing the rules for the sale of alcohol on the territory of our country, in terms of removing temporary restrictions on its purchase (low-alcohol sparkling wines and champagne) from December 31 to January 1 ( meeting of the New Year) and from January 6 to January 7 (celebration of Orthodox Christmas) annually, ”the appeal says.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed to reduce the working day by one hour in the autumn-winter period in Russia.

In addition, the State Duma also proposed extending the upcoming New Year holidays for working pensioners by four days.
