After Prime Minister Kishida announced a policy to formulate a new national security strategy over a year, the Liberal Democratic Party will start full-scale discussions next week.

It is expected that the focus will be on how to possess the so-called "enemy base attack capability", and we would like to include it in the pledge of the Upper House election next summer.

Prime Minister Kishida said in his statement on the 6th that the security environment surrounding Japan is rapidly becoming more severe, and that he will radically strengthen his defense capabilities with a sense of speed. He announced that he would take about a year to formulate a strategy, a defense plan outline, and a medium-term defense capability development plan.

In response to this, the Liberal Democratic Party's Security Investigation Committee and the Defense Subcommittee will begin full-scale discussions next week to formulate new strategies.

In the discussion, Prime Minister Kishida has indicated a policy to realistically consider all options without excluding them, regarding the so-called "capacity to attack enemy bases", so it is expected that the way of possession will be the focus.

The Liberal Democratic Party would like to organize the contents of the current strategy within the year, listen to the opinions of experts, summarize the recommendations, and incorporate them into the pledge of the Upper House election next summer.
