Chile: far-right candidate withdraws controversial proposals from his program

On December 19, in less than two weeks, the former leftist student leader Gabriel Boric, 35, will face the far-right candidate José Antonio Kast for the second round of the presidential election.
After the first round, the two men try to convince moderate or undecided voters.
José Antonio Kast thus presented this Tuesday, December 7, a reduced program of several measures which had been particularly controversial during the campaign.

Surrounded by his advisers, but also by his spokesperson, the great niece of the dictator Augusto Pinochet, the candidate José Antonio Kast presents his program from his HQ, in the chic districts of Santiago.
He changed several proposals regarding
women's rights
.
“
To say that we wanted to merge the Ministry of Women into other ministries was a mistake.
However, the goal remains the same: more rights and resources for women, in all areas.
"
In this new program, it is no longer a question of completely banning abortion or that married women have access to more social assistance than others.
Another change, the idea of collaborating with foreign governments to prosecute left-wing opponents considered radicalized has also been erased.
Finally, the candidate has green his proposals.

Regarding the environment, we corrected everything that was misinterpreted or that we had badly written, because we were accused of not believing in climate change.
While we have clearly stated that climate change does exist.
"
The far-right candidate has thus withdrawn from his program the idea of opening new coal-fired power stations.
