“President Biden voiced the deep concern of the United States and our European allies regarding the build-up of Russian forces around Ukraine and made it clear that the United States and our allies would respond with decisive economic and other measures in the event of a military escalation,” the statement said.
Biden also reaffirmed support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Earlier it became known about the completion of negotiations between Putin and Biden.
The negotiations took place over a closed video link for more than two hours.
At the beginning of the videoconference, Biden expressed hope for an early personal contact with Putin.
