China News Service, December 1, according to the "Europe Times" citing French "Echos" report, on November 29, the Transport Service Quality Administration under the French Ministry of Transport issued a report saying that the punctuality of trains in 16 European countries The results of the comparison show that Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark rank among the top three in terms of punctuality, with 95% of the trains being punctual or almost punctual.

The United Kingdom, Italy, and Portugal in particular ranked bottom, and Portugal only had 82.2% of trains on time.

Data map: In northern France, the world's first hydrogen-powered train was officially launched.

According to reports, a comparison of all types of trains (TGV, inter-city trains, inter-regional trains, and suburban commuter trains in European capitals) shows that France’s performance in train punctuality is comparable to that of neighboring European countries. It is said to be at the "medium" level, ranking 11th among the 16 countries compared.

Although the rankings are not satisfactory, when compared with countries of comparable size, the results seem to be relatively satisfactory.

The report pointed out that in 2019 (referred to the year before the outbreak), 91% of trains in France were delayed for less than 5 minutes.

In terms of inter-regional trains, France has made progress, ranking 8th in the 2019 rankings, with a punctuality rate of 91.9%, ahead of Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Portugal, the worst performer.

Trains in the Greater Paris region (RER and Transilien, with a punctuality rate of 94% in 2019) are also ranked 8th in the European suburban line train punctuality rankings.

The top three rankings in this category are Copenhagen, Madrid and Berlin.

The suburban trains of Lisbon, London and big cities in Belgium are at the bottom of the list.

Data map: At the Strasbourg station in eastern France, a medical worker passes by a high-speed train responsible for transporting severely ill patients with new coronary pneumonia.

As expected, the on-time rate of the French high-speed rail (TGV) is only 77.9%, which is far behind Spain (93.3%) and the Netherlands (86.6%).

In these two countries, high-speed railways are operated on dedicated tracks.

However, SNCF ranks ahead of Italy (66.3%) and Portugal (65.2%). The high-speed rails of these three countries run on traditional tracks.

Due to different measurement standards, German data cannot be used for comparison.

As for intercity trains that do not include high-speed rail, France ranks 7th among the 10 countries compared, with an on-time rate of 75.7% within 5 minutes, closely behind Norway and Poland.

Countries with relatively small territories (Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium) performed best. On the contrary, Italy, Portugal, and Spain had the highest train delay rates.
