The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced, at dawn today, Saturday, the destruction of a ballistic missile launcher, with the killing of a group of experts in a bombing carried out in the capital, Sanaa.

In a statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency, the coalition said, "We destroyed a ballistic missile launcher south of Sanaa, along with a group of experts who died during the targeting."

He added that he also destroyed a mine-making workshop and assembling drones in Sana'a.

The coalition, which in the past few days intensified its air strikes against Houthi-controlled sites in the Yemeni capital, "has taken preventive measures to spare civilians and civilian objects from collateral damage," without other details.

There was no immediate comment from the Houthis on the coalition statement and what it mentioned about the targeted sites.

In a related context, local Yemeni sources reported that a coalition raid led to the killing of 4 civilians and wounding of others in the village of Al-Barsha in the Maqbna district (west of Taiz governorate).

On the other hand, Taiz witnessed demonstrations demanding the dismissal of Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik, against the backdrop of what the demonstrators called the government's failure to manage the economic crisis afflicting the country.

The demonstrators accused the government of not taking any measures to address the deteriorating living conditions, in light of the decline in the local currency exchange rate and the rise in prices, and demanded the dismissal and trial of local authority leaders in Taiz.

Yemen has been witnessing for nearly 7 years a continuous war between pro-government forces backed by a Saudi-led military coalition, and the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled several governorates, including Sanaa, since September 2014.

The war has led to one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, as 80% of the population is in need of aid, and the conflict has pushed millions to the brink of starvation.
