The Kremlin spokesman said this in an interview with TASS.

“Rather, this is not news, but a continuation of the information hysteria that we are witnessing in the media these days,” he said, answering a question whether such messages could negatively affect the upcoming December 7 video conference talks between the leaders of Russia and the United States.

On December 6, the American television channel CNN, citing sources, reported that the US authorities are studying the possibility of imposing sanctions on Russia in order to "deter" it from "invading Ukraine."

As specified, the measures may affect sovereign debt and energy companies, and also provide for "disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT system," however, the channel's interlocutors call this option "an extreme measure."
